It's Friday and it's looking like we've got a cold front coming in. So I'm going to fish it. Hopefully less people and more fish for me. Or one, I'll settle for one.
Today's Ponderings
Last night, I attended a fly tying night put on by one of my local Trout Unlimited chapters. Great time, I learned how to tie a foam hopper and met a couple anglers that seem to have a lot of similar energy. Community and mentorship are things that I haven't really had in fishing, and I think I'm barking up the right tree.
Also, I won a raffle for a copy of Tying Flies with Jack Dennis and Friends (2d ed.), a fly tying book published in 1993. I did a little searching, and it looks like Jack has been a tremendous steward for the fly fishing community, and is still active, even on YouTube! You can check him out at JD's Wide World of Fly Fishing and Tying.
As I thumb through the pages, I'm realizing that this book prompts a really big question. I usually don't keep things close to the chest, but I'm going to reach out to Jack and see if I might be able to quote a passage from his book.
